Now I know
One of the first staples of Late Mode is to inspire collaboration between different mediums and of course different people. When we proposed to explore the topic of music and its potential Maja and Alida naturally found they could work on something together. Through the words written and spoken by Maja, Alida composed a piece, a complementary beat to a healing process, rendered alive by each note.
Maybe now I know
I think I get it
Maybe now I know
All you see in me
Is what you want
To see
The real me doesn’t count
Never even tried to see
what’s inside
and yet you pulled all my insides out
and turned me upside down
and messed me up beyond repair
I don’t pretend
I’m done pretending
I let you pretend me
And whatever you see
Is now who I am
And maybe it is all my fault
I could have done better
Tried harder
Done different
Been different
I think I get it now
It doesn’t matter what I see
But what do you see?
If only I could figure that out
And make you happy
Finally
So I can be
Not even happy
Just be
Do I exist?
I think, therefore I am, right?
You tell me
Because I’m not sure anymore
About anything
About nothing
Just tell me, please
Who are you?
I need to know
Because if I don’t
How will I ever know
Who I am
You think, therefore I am
Whatever you think
Whatever you say
Has become the grounds for everything else
I’m surrounded by eggshells
No matter where I move
I break them
At leat some
I can’t keep anything whole
And there’s no way out
Without shattering them all
What can I do?
How can I help?
Is this okay for you?
I’m so sorry
I’ll try harder
Do different
Be different
Maybe this time
I think I get it
Maybe now I know
All you see in me
Is what you want
To see
The real me doesn’t count
It’s an illusion
Maybe a relic from the past
Maybe just a distant dream
Inside, there’s nothing
and yet you pulled all my insides out
and turned me upside down
and messed me up beyond repair
I don’t pretend
I’m done pretending
I let you pretend me
And whatever you see
Is for now who I am
